Research and Technology Architect
First, there was a quick 15-minute phone chat to check your motivation, go over your background, and give you a brief overview of the company and role. Then, you had a longer 1 hour 15 minutes session with a technical expert and the manager. This part involved discussing your technical experience, past projects (internships, school projects, PFE), and assessing your skills in languages like Python and C++, methods such as ML and algorithms, and tools like CUDA, Slurm, and Git.
- What's your approach to tackling an R&D subject where there's a lot of uncertainty?
- Can you describe how you'd structure a proof of concept (POC)?
- Could you share an instance where you assessed a technology and then incorporated it into a project?

They call you for a technical interview. Honestly, the people in charge of this stage are very competent and welcoming. After accepting, they call you for a managerial interview. For me, it was with a lady who did not respect me; she was taking calls during the interview and did not even let me finish my answer before asking me another question. Total ghosting... Honestly, it's catastrophic, this managerial interview.
- Technical questions regarding Spring Boot and real-world scenarios like memory management.
- Managerial questions generally concerning your previous employer and colleagues.
Financial Analyst
The interview process consists of 4 rounds, all of which are eliminatory. First is a screening round focusing on communication and basic questions. Then, there's an email writing task to check for proper formatting and spelling. The HR round involves resume-related questions. Finally, the last round delves into deep questions about derivatives, the financial market, and your resume.
- What is investment banking?
- Can you explain the financial market and its different types?
- What are derivatives and their various types?

The interview process was okay overall. I had two interviews for similar roles. The first one went great, and I agreed with the feedback, feeling fairly assessed with high-level questions. I don't know why I didn't pass the next stage despite a good rating (4/5). HR did offer a second role via email, which was nice. After I said I was interested, I had to wait over a month for a call and interview date. The second interview was very different. I was more stressed, and the technical interviewer asked confusing, unclear questions, mostly focusing on fundamentals instead of advanced topics I thought were needed. I disagree with most of the feedback, feeling I answered at least half well, but it seemed like if I didn't answer perfectly, I got zero. Surprisingly, I was marked down for a question that wasn't even asked, which felt like they were just looking for reasons to score me negatively. Also, my detailed, good answers and any side references I made weren't noted. The technical part was supposed to be 30 minutes but went to 50, and it felt like every attempt I made to move on was met with more circling around the same question, as the interviewer was determined to get an answer out of me, regardless of my desire to proceed.
- When discussing terms, it's generally good to expand the full name for short names.
- Can you describe various types of malware and general phishing, including specific examples?
- What are the key distinctions between symmetric and asymmetric encryption, and hashing? How do you compare files using hashing, and what are pass-the-hash and golden ticket attacks?
