AP Manager
I talked to the recruiter on the phone and it seemed promising. Then, I met the hiring manager. I was really into the job because it seemed like I had experience and knowledge for every single thing they listed. However, I felt the hiring manager was not friendly and seemed uncomfortable, maybe distracted, like she was staring out the window. She would just nod at my answers without making eye contact. Near the end, she mentioned she wasn't in a rush to hire and could even take a year, which was odd given what the recruiter said. It felt strange. I got a rejection email the next day. After reading negative reviews, I'm actually glad I didn't get the job.

Communications Manager
My interview experience with EVgo was extremely negative. The first interview was a Microsoft Teams video call, but the recruiter was 8 minutes late and claimed their systems weren't working, calling me on my cell instead. They then scheduled a second interview with the hiring manager for the next week. However, within 5 minutes of ending the first call, they emailed a cancellation without any explanation. I tried to reschedule via email and phone multiple times over the next week with no response. Exactly a week after the first interview, I received an email asking if I received a confirmation for an interview that day, which I was unaware of and had no link for. I replied stating they hadn't responded to my previous communications, I hadn't received a link, and couldn't make a last-minute interview. I never heard back and never made it to the second round due to their lack of follow-up and failure to reschedule.

Software Engineer
A third party recruiter reached out on LinkedIn. Then I had a 30-45 minute chat with an internal recruiter who gave me a lot of detail about the company, what they're looking for, and the engineering team's projects. After that, I spoke with the engineering director for an hour about my background and some usual soft skill questions. They gave me a heads-up about the Codility take-home assessment, which was helpful. I usually don't love take-homes, but this one was well-designed, didn't take too long, and fairly tested my React and GraphQL skills in a real-world context. The final interview was a one-hour panel with three senior engineers. They were all very nice, and the questions were technical but general, which I thought was a good way to assess senior candidates.

Asset Management Specialist
I was contacted by someone in HR/recruiting who was friendly and asked some basic questions about my background, and got me set up with an interview. She advised me to prep by going through the job description/responsibilities and have talking points for them. My first interview was with the manager of the position I was interviewing for. It went pretty well, I felt like there was good rapport between the manager and I. Fairly standard questions, just going through my experience and talking about how they might relate to the role. A few days later the recruiter called and asked me to interview with a panel, and set up two more interviews for a few days later. The first of these interviews was with two managers of teams adjacent to the role I was applying for. One of the two managers was 5 minutes late, and spent 10 of the allotted 30 minutes for the interview ranting about how I didn't have experience in something not asked for in the job description, and something the manager in the first interview implied was not really a major experience. I found this interview experience extremely off-putting, and was frankly upset that this person felt it was appropriate to use my interview to vent about the hiring practices EVgo had set in place for the role. Instead of looking to see how my other qualities may have made me suited for the role (because no candidate is ever going to be 100% perfect), he instead chose to waste my interview slot. Immediately following that interview, I had a second interview with the manager of all of the managers I met with. I explained to him that was a bit frazzled after the experience I had in the previous interview, and he explained to me that the role really doesn't require the knowledge that the previous manager ranted about. This interview went alright, I was off my game a bit. Most of this interview was talking about my experience in context of the role at EVgo. A couple of days after this, I missed a call from the recruiter and received an email saying they selected another candidate. I called her back and was sent to voicemail after 3 rings.
