First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at EverTrue.
Implementation Specialist
Had a recruiter call that was about 30 minutes long. Then I had another interview with 2 people from the team. I didn't get any feedback even when I asked for it, but the questions were pretty standard.
- Tell me about a time you had to manage client expectations.
Engineering Team Lead
The interview process was 4 rounds. First there was an HR screen, then an interview with the engineering director and a project manager. After that, there was a 'technical interview' with 2 engineering directors, but it was actually about how I would lead a team of 5 engineers, divide work, and mentor others. I also had to complete a Coderbyte test. The interviews were pretty low pressure and conversational. I got an offer, but it was below market value. When I countered, they said they wouldn't change it. The next day, they called with another offer, but it had so many stipulations protecting the company and putting me at risk.
- How would you allocate tasks during a two-week sprint?
- Can you explain how you would manage a team of 5 engineers?
- What is your approach to mentoring team members?
Engineering Team Lead
I applied directly, and things went pretty well overall. The whole thing, with 5 interviews and long waits between them, stretched over a month and a half. Most of the interviews were about accountability, respect, and communication. These were supposed to be the company's core values, which made the complete lack of communication during the process really disappointing. I felt like my time and effort weren't valued at all, and I think that says a lot about their actual values and what it's like to work there. Big red flag, honestly glad I didn't end up in a toxic place. Still, it's a bummer when a company talks up certain values but then completely ignores them.
- Can you share examples of when you've dealt with challenging individuals or circumstances?
- What's your strategy for effective communication within a team?
- Tell me about how you manage disagreements and tough situations.
Product Manager
I submitted my application and after about a month got an email for an interview which I set up. The first call was 40 minutes and it went well, the interviewer was nice and we had a good chat. He spent most of the time telling me about Evertrue and the benefits, which was nice but I wish we'd talked more about the actual role and my skills since none of that matters if you don't get the job. He told me after the call that I'd get an email with a few tests to do within 48 hours to decide if I move forward. I really didn't like this part, having to spend 1-2 hours preparing and then another hour taking the tests, specifically a CCAT test with 50 questions in 15 minutes. The next day they emailed saying they weren't moving forward with me. It felt really bad, like this test was all they needed to judge my skills and experience. If you're bad at tests, don't bother applying. I'm pretty sure my score wasn't high enough and that's why they passed. It seems like they do a high volume and just filter based on test scores. I was really excited about Evertrue, but this definitely soured my interest. The assessment details were: 'The cognitive portion has a 15-minute time limit for 50 questions. The goal is to answer as many questions as possible. There are no penalties for wrong answers, so pick your best guess and move on. Questions are divided into 3 categories: math and logic, verbal ability, and spatial reasoning. You cannot revisit previous questions. You may use a pen and paper during the cognitive assessment, but you are not permitted to use calculators or the Internet.'
