Software QA Engineer
I applied online and got contacted by the recruiter the next day. She first gave me a simple QA test to complete. After I sent it back, the recruiter called me to chat about my background and about Evernote, and then set up an interview with the QA manager. This was my first job interview, and I was super nervous and the phone connection was bad, but the QA manager was really patient and tried hard to see if I was qualified, but I didn't do well. Honestly, I wouldn't have offered myself the job based on my performance. So that was the end of the interview process. The recruiter and QA manager were very nice though. Even though it didn't end well, it was a great learning experience for me.
- Were the questions asked primarily based on your resume, and were they quite simple?
- Were the questions asked generally simple?
Software QA Engineer
First, I had a non-tech interview with the hiring person which went well. Then, the QA department head conducted a slightly technical interview, and it went even better than I expected. The next step was an in-person interview with several people. I met the QA manager, and our conversation was great, just like our earlier phone call. I asked the QA manager about her expectations for the role, and she basically echoed what I had just said. I felt really confident. Although one interviewer asked a basic Java coding question, the interviews generally went well. The next day, the hiring person contacted me, not with good news as I'd hoped, but to let me know sooner rather than later that unfortunately, I wasn't selected. I was shocked and just thanked her for the opportunity without asking why. I think the whole process was strange, and I was very qualified. My advice is not to get your hopes up, even when things seem perfect.
- Can you explain your interest in Evernote?
- Do you have experience with SQL?
- Were there any coding challenges presented?
Software QA Engineer
The interview involved testing-related questions, basic automation queries, and a discussion about my comfort with an onsite-offshore model, along with my interests. It started with a phone screen, followed by an onsite interview with a panel of about five interviewers.
- Are you comfortable working in an onsite-offshore model?
