This was such a long interview process, felt like a waste of time for everyone involved. It had 8 interviews: an initial recruiter screen, a call with the hiring manager, two interviews back-to-back on video, then another unscheduled video call with the hiring manager, followed by an onsite interview. After that, there was yet another unscheduled video interview, and finally, a presentation round. This was way too many steps for a mid-level position. The company didn't even tell me about two of the extra interviews beforehand, and the requirements kept changing. It made me feel like they wanted to use my ideas before actually hiring me. The company's bad reviews and layoffs seem to fit with what I saw: chaos, not working well, and no respect. They could have found a better way to check if I was a good fit without exhausting me before I even got the job.

RUN far away from this company. There's a reason they have low ratings.. I wish I hadn't ignored their rating from consumers and employees as a red flag. Cold interviewers who want the moon for average pay, seemingly lack of culture and empathy. They want the candidate to come in knowing everything about their company and role from day 1 vs grooming talent for retention. After a few rounds I heard crickets despite several follow ups. Don't waste your time

Presentation

This company seems to be using the hiring process to get free work from designers. I completed their assignment and presented it, and they said they were impressed but wanted me to do more. When I declined to do additional work and offered to show more portfolio pieces, they rejected me and said they chose another candidate. It's suspicious because they reposted the job today. They offered two assignment options, but they were essentially the same. They recently laid off all their designers and are working with an agency, so it seems like they're exploiting job seekers for ideas to give to their agency.

The communication was great throughout. My process went like this: First, a recruiter call to discuss the role and see if it was a good fit. Then, I had an interview with the hiring manager via video call. After that, I interviewed with another manager in the department, followed by an interview with the department leader. The final interview was with a panel and included a project. This all took about 3 weeks, and then another couple of weeks for the decision. Everyone was open and honest about challenges and company growth, which helped me understand the role and how I'd contribute.
