If your team needs 13 rounds of interviews to make a decision… plus a take home assignment an onsite and etc etc, feels like I dodged a bullet. Had a 6 hour onsite with back to back interviews and a 5 minute break in the middle. Back to back = one ends at 11:30 the next begins at 11:30. It felt like a firestorm. Clearly they can’t make effective decisions or feel like wasting time is necessary in the hiring process. I didn’t feel like anyone read my take home assignment, just followed up after I heard nothing after submitting take home, and recruiter said sorry for delay you passed! Also, I should mention the take home requires you to tell them a 2 hour window that you can work on it, they send it to you at that time and you must send back in 2 hours. Feels so juvenile. Either way I feel like after such a long and complex for no reason process the feedback was so basic it was clear it was a waste of time. “Hire someone more senior” like you didn’t know my seniority by the 5th, 9th, or even 10th interview.

Ended up doing 9 interviews total. Started with a screener call, then a bunch of one on ones. Finished with an afternoon of 4 interviews back to back. Also had 2 assessments, and the whole thing was about 12 hours.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview journey was pretty extensive and took a lot of time, starting with a recruiter chat, then a hiring manager call, followed by a timed written test. After that, there was a 4-hour panel interview which also included a follow-up to the written assessment. Throughout it all, the recruiting team was super clear about what each step was for and gave pointers on how to prepare. They even brought up the salary range during the first conversation, which was great. Most of the interviews, except the initial recruiter screen, focused heavily on behavioral and situational questions. It was a lot more than other places I interviewed at, so make sure to have plenty of examples ready that can be adapted. The final stage really dug into how well you fit with the company culture and values, your communication style, your technical ability when facing a new platform, and how you work with others.
