I applied on September 29th, the same day the job was posted. LinkedIn said I was a good fit because my experience matched the job description. At the time of applying, there were only about ten applicants. Just seven minutes after I applied, I got a rejection email saying they had many qualified applicants. Since no one actually reviewed my application and portfolio, I want to know what knockout question I supposedly missed on the ATS. The job has been posted again.

I applied online and then a recruiter called me. After that, I had an in-person interview at the store in the mall. I sat with the store manager outside the store for a quick chat. Then, the store manager showed me a customer profile with their job, family life, interests, etc. I had to come up with about three outfits for this customer in about 5 to 10 minutes and then I explained why I picked those outfits.

The interview process was completed in two parts for me. First, I had the typical discussion and introduction about what it would be like to be a stylist and then also tell a bit about myself. The second half was me styling a couple of outfits to get feedback and give the team an idea on where my styling expertise lies.

The interview process started with a quick phone call to see if I had retail experience and my reasons for applying. Next, I had an in-person meeting with the store manager, which seemed to go well. Then came a 'Brand experience' part where I had to show I could style outfits using their products. The final interview was with the company president. My advice to the company is that for such a long process, if you decide not to hire someone, please let all the other candidates know they didn't get the job. Waiting three weeks for an answer is a long time. If someone isn't a good fit, tell them earlier. I did my research before interviewing to know what was expected. It's disappointing that others have had similar experiences with poor communication throughout. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I'd warn others applying for this or any management role. If you're applying for a stylist role, it's easier because the turnover is so high, they need you more than you need them.
