I had an initial interview with Eventbrite. First, I met with a technical recruiter. We talked about my background. It started off really well, but after 9 minutes, they asked about my salary expectations. I gave them a range based on my research and said it was negotiable. This felt unprofessional, and the interviewer then abruptly ended the conversation. They asked if I had any questions, so I asked about their culture and team size. I also asked if my pay expectation seemed reasonable since I said it was negotiable. The interviewer said it was, and I'm not sure why there seemed to be a 'tug-o-war'. I asked for feedback on the interview, but never got a response.

The interviewers were very kind and empathetic. They made me feel comfortable throughout the process and allowed me to communicate everything relevant for the role, while guiding the conversation.

Behavioral Technical Group Presentation

This company's interview process was pretty disorganized. After the initial screening, I had 5 separate interviews. Three of those were back-to-back with no breaks, which was tough. Honestly, 4 of the interviews felt redundant and could have been combined into a single 90-minute panel. The questions were pretty similar across them, just framed from different product, tech, and management angles. I ended up repeating the same examples, which probably didn't help since they compare notes. Communication from the recruiters was also bad. I liked most of the people I spoke with, but I guess they didn't feel the same, and I got a generic rejection email without any explanation. I had to take a half-day off work for this, and asking for feedback got me nothing. Their rejection email was also full of self-promotion, which was kind of insulting. Some interviewers also talked about the recent layoffs, which made me question the company's stability.
