Long preparation for the general competition for contractual agents for max 3 year contracts, renewable once under certain conditions, now extended to 5 years. Passed competition, ended up on a reserve list. Rang up several offices in DG Internal Market and Services for vacancies, most materialise during maternity leaves. Got a call to see one hiring manager and after a 1.5 hour interview, I was hired. When passing a general competition for permanent staff, after multiple choice, you go to an Assessment Center for approx. 1 day of testing with several exercises, then if you do well, you go to a panel interview phase.
