Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Etax Accountants.
Accountant
It was all about technical questions. But the senior accountant and HR appeared very unprofessional. They only had one sheet of A4 with questions and one of them wrote the answers down as it went. HR even drank coffee without offering the candidate anything. Honestly, with all those questions and the timeframe, only 15-20 mins, they won't get to know the personality or capacity of a candidate. Surely you will miss a lot of talent by conducting interviews like that.
- Regarding SMSF, do you have any prior experience?
Accountant
I applied in early April and had a phone interview in mid-April. It was a basic interview, nothing too complex. After that, I did an English/grammar test and a typing test. The last step was a face-to-face interview with an accountant and an HR person. The interview felt relaxed, and the interviewers were really nice and welcoming. It was a good experience overall. The questions were not hard at all.
- Tell me about yourself or a time you demonstrated a specific skill.
- Do you have knowledge about tax-related topics?
Tax Accountant
After applying online, there was a phone screening that included background checking. Then, a pre-employment test covering typing speed and English was given. Don't stress too much about typing speed; they're not for screening but to see if you'd fit the Frontline Customer Services team. Finally, there was a face-to-face interview with a 2-on-1 panel. They decided which team you'd join based on your skills and answers to questions.
- Could you list some deductions that are eligible for a personal tax return?
