First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ESW.
Engineering Manager
The initial recruiter call and the first interview went well, giving a positive impression of the company and the role. However, the second, more technical interview was disappointing. The interviewers seemed unprepared and disengaged. Communication was a significant issue due to poor English proficiency, making it difficult to both understand questions and articulate answers. While diversity is valued, a functional command of English is essential for effective communication in a hiring context. The inability to communicate clearly hindered the evaluation of the role and self-representation.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to resolve a conflict within your team?
- Share an instance where a technical solution didn't work out as planned and explain how you handled it.
Sales
I was contacted by a recruiter. There was a standard screening call and then a conversation with a commercial leader. The commercial leader didn't share much about the role or what was great about the job. They focused on my career but didn't ask why I thought I'd succeed at ESW. They just asked a lot of questions that didn't seem relevant. It wasn't a bad experience overall, but the recruiter and commercial leader both went silent afterward, which felt disrespectful since they reached out to me.

Solutions Engineer
Had several calls, got good feedback and a heads-up that they liked me and would move me forward in the next week - they said they'd tell me who I'd be meeting and the next steps. Then, a couple weeks went by with no response, not even to my follow-ups. Getting ghosted is bad, but getting ghosted after positive feedback and info on what's next is way worse. Do better.
- Can you tell me about your background in e-commerce?
- What's your experience with integrating products and tools into different e-commerce platforms?
Principal Consultant
So the interview process has 3 rounds in total. It's split into two technical rounds and one HR round. The first round starts with a self-introduction, then an explanation of your current application, detailing your role and contributions. It kicks off with fundamental concepts like opps and SOLID, and design patterns. The second round gets practical, asking how you'd implement abstraction, tune application performance, and handle troubleshooting. Finally, the HR round is where they'll give you feedback, discuss your expected salary, and confirm the offered role.
