Digital Marketing Specialist
Applied for a job that seemed a perfect fit. Got contacted by HR for an assignment before any interview was set up, which was a bit strange. I asked if completing this significant unpaid work guaranteed an interview, and the HR person seemed to take it as me not wanting to do it, even after I clarified. They didn't answer my question directly. The assignment was a lot of work, more than usual, but I did it thinking it would pay off. After I submitted it, I heard nothing for over two weeks despite my follow-ups via email and WhatsApp. Eventually, they just responded saying they'd gone with other candidates. No feedback or reason why. It felt like they just wanted free ideas for their campaign plan and never intended to hire. Definitely won't apply to this company again, and I'll warn others.
- Could you develop a campaign plan for our product range?
Technical Support Engineer
It was a multi-stage interview process. It started with a written test that covered general IT knowledge, including Linux/Unix topics. Then there were some "bonus" IQ test questions at the end, like the classic hats and aliens problem and a question about family names. After that, I had a chat with someone from the department.
- Can you tell me about your past experience?
- What are your salary expectations?
Business Technical Support Manager
The job was listed as remote. The first two interviews went well. But on the third interview, the manager for this position suggested they were only seeking candidates located in San Diego, despite it being clear in the first two interviews that it was a remote position. Following that interview, I was ghosted by the recruiter for three weeks before receiving a rejection, which I only got after reaching out on LinkedIn. A week after that, the position was re-listed specifically for San Diego. This suggests a lack of coordination within their organization regarding remote hiring, which resulted in a frustrating six-week delay for me.
- Can you share an achievement you are particularly proud of?
Customer Service Agent
So I sent in my resume and then HR emailed me back with some questions like why I wanted a new job and what I liked about this one. Then I had to go in for a in person technical test with like 60 questions covering LAN, Exchange, Outlook, setting up domain controllers, IP, TCP/UDP, Windows/Linux, and just general troubleshooting. I did pretty good on that so they had me do a phone interview with a Customer Care supervisor. That was more standard stuff like why I'd be a good fit, why I want to join, and about my past jobs and skills. That went well too, so the last step was an in-person interview with 4 people, and it took about 2 hours. They asked more regular questions but also some scenarios like what to do if a coworker isn't pulling their weight in a group, if a good product or good service is more important, and how to deal with tough feedback from a boss. After they talked to 3 of my references, they gave me a job offer, which I accepted!
- Can you tell me how to change directories and list directory contents in Linux?
