They had me complete a sample project, but then told me they don't work with people in my state, which wasn't mentioned in the job posting even though I provided my address. It makes me wonder if they are careless, collecting info, or maybe looking for free work.

It was a group call with other people interviewing. They talked about what the job is. At the end, they said they'd contact us and asked if we were still interested in the job.

The interview was set up as a virtual meeting on Teams. The interviewer seemed nice, shared a lot of info, and answered all my questions well. But, they never turned on their camera, which was a really unprofessional and rude thing to do during an interview. I was 10 minutes early, and when they joined, I greeted them and mentioned I couldn't see them. They said there was construction and apologized for noise, but I figured noise wouldn't stop them from turning on their camera since they're different things. Anyway, there wasn't any construction noise. The interview was supposed to be 30 minutes but ended up being an hour, and it went well. I might have given it a perfect score if I wasn't talking to just a voice and seeing initials on the screen. It's still baffling to me that someone thinks it's okay to interview with their camera off. They could have just done a phone interview. It feels like professionalism and basic courtesy are gone these days.

The interview process was fair. It started with a recruiter call over the phone, where the HR person was very pleasant and talked about the company's business and overall culture. It's a medium-sized company that's well-funded, already profitable, and growing. The second interview was with the CTO over Zoom, who asked general questions to get to know you and your skills. The third interview was with the VP of R&D over Zoom, and at the end, he gave me a home assignment. The fourth step was a meeting with HR to get an offer.
