Math Teacher
The interviewer was really nice and upbeat at first, and they responded quickly when I applied. But then, for reasons I don't get, they just stopped updating me on where things stood. They didn't explain anything or get back to me when I emailed them with all the stuff they asked for.
- How do you view cultural identity and diversity within a classroom setting?
Director
I applied for the Director position back in January 2021. The following month, HR sent me an email thanking me for applying and interviewing for a Temporary Counselor role, which I never applied for. In March, the HR director reached out to schedule a phone interview for the Director position. During our conversation, the HR director lacked basic knowledge about the role, like the typical number of 8th-grade students for high school prep and the list of high schools where students enroll. The interview felt like a formality, with the director asking standard questions without connecting them to my experience or the job description. Our call dropped, and after a five-minute delay to reconnect, the HR director asked if I still wanted to continue. I decided to proceed to gather enough information to realize this isn't a place I'd want to work soon.
- Tell me about the experience you have that qualifies you for this role.
- Can you tell me how many students are usually in the 8th Grade program?
- Do you have a list of the high schools that Equitas Academy students move on to after 8th Grade?
Educator
The hiring process started with a phone screen, followed by a project submission. After getting approved, I was invited for an in-person interview. The whole process was quite intense and thorough, which was impressive and made me more excited about the position after the interviews, the team was great.
- Demonstrate a sample teaching session
- Engage in role-playing scenarios
- Discuss your past experiences
Middle School Teacher
The interview process was quick and professional. The HR director was very approachable. Seeing the classes in action before the interview was helpful. The interview questions were typical for a teacher role, focusing on experience and mission alignment. For the demo lesson, make sure it's well-paced to include an assessment at the end.
- Can you share an instance where you received feedback and explain how you acted on it?
