First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Equal Justice Works.
Marketing and Communications Manager
I had a casual, 30-minute screening interview that I thought went really well. They said they'd get back to me in about a week. I didn't hear anything for almost two weeks, so I emailed to check on my status. They responded that I wouldn't be moving forward. The official rejection email came about two months later. I've decided to start calling out organizations that try to ghost people after interviews. If you tell someone who interviews with you that they will hear from you within a set time frame, you should stick to that. Candidates should not have to crawl after you begging for an update. There's just no excuse for treating people that way, particularly once they've reached the interview stage. I would not apply for another role at this organization.
- Can you elaborate on your background?
Program Specialist
The interview process with Equal Justice Works went really smoothly. The hiring coordinator was great at keeping in touch, and there was always good communication throughout the different parts of the interview. We had an initial phone interview, then two interview panels, plus there was an Excel spreadsheet I had to complete.
- Tell me about a time you had a professional disagreement with a coworker and how you handled discussing your differing views.
Administrative Assistant
Had one interview with a recruiter, then a panel interview, and then I had to create a presentation. It wasn't too bad, but the presentation part was kind of last minute and they didn't mention it upfront. They also didn't give me a heads up about it.
- How would you handle managing multiple competing priorities?
HR Associate
So first I had an in-person interview with the hiring manager, then it was a virtual panel interview, and then finally an in-person interview with the CEO and Chief of Staff. They kept me updated in between the interviews.
- Can you share an instance where you had to resolve a conflict?
