Solutions Architect
Started with an HR/Staffing screen, then met the Hiring Manager. It was pretty easy and I liked their questions. After the Hiring Manager, I had a couple of technical interviews with their Lead Architects. The whole process was quick and simple.
- Could you design a network architecture and propose a solution for a specific customer scenario?
Product Manager
ePlus reached out to me about a local Product Manager job I felt I was overqualified for. I thought I nailed every conversation, was flexible on my rate, and had all the technical skills needed. Had a great chat with the client. But then, I heard absolutely nothing. A week passed, I followed up, and they said they'd check in, and I've heard ZERO since. Look, I get that I won't get every job. But to not hear back at all is unprofessional, insulting, and frankly, gross. Don't trust these folks to do what they promise – they won't. Expect them to make you jump through hoops, request interviews last minute, and then ghost you.
- How do you handle demands for quick feature turnarounds that seem unreasonable?
- Can you describe your proficiency with AWS, Azure, SQL, and React?
Solutions Architect
The interview process felt arrogant, especially for a company that's only been in cyber security services for a short time. There was a panel interview with four people who had IT backgrounds, not specifically cybersecurity. They focused on asking 'gotcha' questions instead of discussing my 20 years of cybersecurity experience and how I could add value. After the panel, I had no interest in working with them. It seems their cyber group is full of IT professionals who recently moved into cybersecurity.
- How would you assist a client dealing with the log4j vulnerability?
Network Engineer
So, the interview started with a recruiter call, which was basically a phone screen. After that, there was a technical interview with two people from IT. I asked the recruiter about the work culture, but they didn't really say much and seemed to be in a hurry to get off the phone. The technical interview was pretty bad. Nobody introduced themselves, and they didn't give me any info about the company or the job. They started with behavioral questions, asking about my hobbies, and then got into the technical stuff, which felt more like an interrogation. One interviewer was super rude and told me I got a lot of things wrong. Overall, I was really unimpressed and disappointed with how unprofessional they were.
- How would you handle an angry customer?
- Can you describe a time you dealt with a difficult situation?
- Could you explain what a VLAN is?
