The initial phone chat was about 30 minutes and seemed pretty standard. Then, I faced some tough online exams, but thankfully, I'd prepped and knew what to expect with the proctoring. There was also a technical writing test that I found to be quite easy and enjoyable. The final interview, which was conducted via Zoom instead of in-person due to COVID-19, kicked off with a rather lengthy presentation covering the company and Madison. It felt a bit like a sales pitch for the company, which wasn't a big issue, but the whole day of interviews was already quite long. I ended up speaking with four different people over a 2-3 hour period. Towards the end, they mentioned I was being considered for both a Technical Writing role and a Technical Solutions Engineer position, attributing this to my strong performance on the assessments. They indicated a decision would be made within a week. Unfortunately, it took two weeks to receive a call informing me they'd chosen another candidate, which was quite disheartening and frustrating after progressing so far and being considered for two distinct roles. On the whole, though, the interview process itself was pretty good.

This was probably one of the most dignified interview experiences I've ever had with a company. The HR representative who was in contact with me kept me updated during every part of the recruitment process, and the technical writer who phone-screened me was unbelievably courteous, professional, and pleasantly relaxed. You'll know where you are every step of the way. In each email they send you, they have a header that highlights each part of the process ("application," "phone interview," "assessment," "final interview," "offer") as you go along. I found this so refreshing, so ingenious, that I came here just to give a positive review for that. I'm bummed I didn't get to the "final interview" portion, but I have to give props to them. Most employers won't even email you - not even once - to tell you they're not interested in you. Epic will tell you at least that. Simply apply to a job with them to experience their interview process and hope you do well during the assessments. To be honest I wish the tests weren't part of the process. I know this is where I was disqualified so be ready to give them your all if you apply.

Started with an online form submission, where I uploaded my resume and cover letter. Then, a phone interview with a current employee in the role, who was very helpful in answering my questions about the job duties and the company culture at Epic. Next were online, proctored skills tests, which included writing assessments and a programming test involving learning a custom-made programming language. Finally, an online personality test was administered to gauge cultural fit.
