I heard back from them pretty fast and got an interview. I met with the CEO and thought it went well, but I didn't get a response even after following up. It seems like a business that's growing and has a lot of potential.

The recruiter was deceptive from the start. He aimed to lowball me, insisting that my experience didn’t align with the posted salary—even though they specifically requested candidates with over five years of experience in beauty and fashion (which I have). Yet, because none of it was in home decor, he was only considering me for a much lower rate. He's preying on those in desperate situations. Beware.

The interview started 30 minutes late with the CEO, and HR kept apologizing. The office seemed chaotic with stressed employees, which felt like a warning sign. The interview itself was very short, only about 15 minutes. I followed up to request a design test and send a thank you note, but my email bounced back. I contacted HR, completed the design test, and sent it in, but I never heard back or got confirmation if it was received. There were many red flags, and the negative online reviews seem accurate, while the positive ones might be due to compromises.

Behavioral Other

The first question by the owner of the company was my age. I've been to many interviews during my career and was never asked this question before. I never lied about my background on my resume, and I wonder why he started the interview by asking my age. I politely declined to answer that question, and then he asked me what year I graduated from college. Like, come on! Why does it matter? I should have responded, saying, "My years of experience and continued passion for learning and growing would certainly make me an asset to your company. For the sake of clarity, are you asking my age for a specific reason that I should be aware of?"
