First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Enviva.
Process Engineer
First, there was a phone interview screening with a recruiter. Then, I had to complete a short technical questionnaire. After that, I participated in a series of virtual interviews with people from the plants and the Raleigh office. Finally, there was an in-person interview and lunch on site with the hiring manager and the team.
- Can you tell me about your work experience?
- Do you have experience with specific drying equipment?
- What experience do you have with different types of projects?
Staff Accountant
The interview process is long. They ask specific questions about procedures that the company follows when you are applying outside the company. The company doesn't have a proper training process, so they'll basically dump the job on you with no explanation. Staff employees are also part of the interview, asking about procedures they might not even know how to do correctly.
- Do you read contracts?
- What are your invoice construction skills?
Safety Coordinator
I got contacted by a recruiter and had a quick call. Then I had an interview with the hiring manager, and finally, an interview with the hiring manager and the rest of the team. The interview questions weren't too tough, but they really stressed the travel aspect. I asked about the 80% travel mentioned in the job description, and they said it would be mostly travel with some time at home. I also asked if I could expect to be home on weekends, but they couldn't guarantee it. They also mentioned it wasn't a good fit if I was studying on the side or planning to start a family soon.
- Can you explain what constitutes an OSHA recordable injury?
EHS
It was a 2-round interview process, starting with HR and then a technical round. Since I'm coming from school, they mainly focused on my knowledge and skills. I also mentioned my exceptional communication skills and availability to travel 25% of the time. I was fortunate that the manager involved allowed me to work on projects within my area of interest.
- Are you passionate about this field and what are your career goals?
