Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Environmental Defense Fund.
Policy Analyst
Had a phone screening where they asked if I was really interested in the position. They seem to have some issues with keeping people because of the pay. I ended up declining the job.
- Tell me about your passion for the environment.
Analyst
I went through three rounds of interviews plus a written test. After that, there was a long silence for weeks. I got another job offer and let them know my deadline for that offer right away, asking them to decide by then (giving them a whole week). They responded on the deadline day, suggesting I ask for an extension from the other company. When I asked how long of an extension, they didn't answer. Two days later, they informed me they weren't offering me the job. I'm really unhappy with how this went down because I had to put my other job offer at risk for a chance at this one.
- Tell me about your skills and experience.
Analyst
I went through three interview rounds. First up was a recruiter chat to cover the basics and check requirements. Then, I had a meeting with the hiring manager who told me a lot about the role and how the company is set up. The last interview was a panel with two managers, an analyst, and a VP. They asked a series of questions about my background, hypothetical scenarios, and past behaviors.
