Website Designer
I chatted with the project manager and the owner. We talked about my past experience, my skills, and the job. They gave me info about the role and the company and answered my questions.
- What about your previous work experience can you tell me?
Web Developer
It was a very casual sit-down chat, lasted only about 5-7 minutes. They asked me some basic questions about web knowledge anyone in the field should know. I didn't really get to discuss my full range of skills and experience. Then, I was taken to the web room and sat with the person whose job I would be taking over, watching them work for about 15 minutes. Afterward, I was asked if I could do what I saw them doing. When I said yes, they asked when I could start, and I began the following week.
- Are you capable of building websites using WordPress?
Web Producer
They will ask some basic questions about your background and your understanding of HTML, CSS, and graphic design. Nothing too specific, just more of a research process to see where you will fit in with their team of constantly changing personnel. Knowledge of WordPress will take you a long way as they design all of their web sites using this free platform vs. actual real web design. They also do not drug test or do much in terms of background investigation.
- How familiar are you with Photoshop?
- How familiar are you with HTML & CSS?
