Marketing Communications Manager
I applied online and then had an interview panel. The panel didn't take the time to really explain the role or how it would fit into the organization. They also didn't ask me any questions about executing 'real work' in terms of communications or providing a solid product. All they wanted to hear about was how I could speak into DEI initiatives and made it clear with their pro-Berkley stance posters in the background that's all they were interested in. I'm left-leaning too, but it would have been nice to be considered for the work I can do and value I can provide. Clearly the joke is on me. So, hey, if you want a job and you're too qualified, go for it. Just hang a Ruth Bader-Ginsburg poster in the background.

Marketing Associate
So I had this initial phone screening, it was about 30 mins and they asked me some standard interview questions. Then like 24 hours later, they told me I was gonna interview with two marketing people from Energy Solutions. They were really nice and it was pretty easy to chat with them. They mentioned there would be one more round after that. I was told I'd hear back within a week or week and a half, but it took like two and a half weeks to hear back which was a bit annoying, but whatever. Sadly, I didn't make it to that next round, but overall it was a good experience.

- What makes you a strong candidate for this job?
Communications Coordinator
The first interview was a Zoom call with the hiring manager(s). They provided an overview of the program and mostly talked before asking me some questions. After that, I had an editing test where I had to edit a few paragraphs describing a program to make them clearer. The second interview was with a higher-up, scheduled for 5 PM on a Friday. This interview was rescheduled from earlier in the day due to a conflict. I felt I didn't perform well because I was tired from the work week, and I thought it was inappropriate to schedule it at that time. Next time, I would decline interviewing at that time.

- Can you improve the clarity of these program description paragraphs?
Solar Program Associate
First step was a 30-minute phone screening with a recruiter. The recruiter mentioned that any pauses after an answer meant they were listening and just writing notes. Then came a quick set of 8 questions. After I answered them, the recruiter just said 'ok' and moved to the next question. It felt like the interviewer wasn't really listening or didn't know much about the job. They were very monotone and unprofessional. The whole interview only took 13 minutes. It wasn't a great experience, and it seemed like the recruiter was inexperienced.
