The initial screening call was supposed to have someone advocating for the role, but it felt more like a gatekeeper. Technical questions were brushed aside and told to save for the next round. The recruiter didn't know much about the job itself, but surprisingly knew enough to discuss salary during the screening call.

I applied online and the hiring manager reached out to me directly to set up a screening call before moving on to a panel interview with them and other team members. It was a bit unusual that the hiring manager contacted me before a recruiter. The conversation with the hiring manager went well, but when compensation came up, my expectations were higher than their budget. This should have been a discussion with HR or a recruiter, not the hiring manager. I was told a recruiter would contact me, but they never did. I found out about the next steps by checking the application portal.

The interview process involved a Phone Screen with a Recruiter, followed by an interview with the Hiring Manager and Director. It seemed like a good conversation, and they explained the job and training well. After about two weeks, I had a Panel Interview with the Team. The team felt very close-knit, and it was clear they were looking for someone who would fit in well. My background was more focused on analytics and reporting, so my thought process and experience were quite different. The panel interview was pretty informal, and they mainly asked about how I'd handle meetings and deal with pushback from doctors. The whole thing took about 7 weeks from the phone screen to getting the decision, from mid-July to the second week of September.
