The first interview was with an HR rep and it was super uncomfortable, honestly the most combative interview I've ever been in. Every answer I gave got a defensive response, like they were trying to win an argument rather than get to know me. It felt like talking to a lawyer. This whole exchange was like that. Encompass should really rethink how their people talk to candidates because this experience was really off-putting and disappointing. I wouldn't reapply or interview there again. This review is specifically for Encompass LLC near D.C.

EnCompass uses a structured interview process. Questions are aligned to the job qualifications and designed to reduce bias in the selection process. We also try to include appreciative questions in the mix. For example, I love to ask people to "imagine you've accepted this position and you have had a great day at work, tell me what that day would look like. What makes for a great day at work?" For those who are likely to have supervisory responsibility we ask about supervisory skills and style, all of which are important to us!

I got a cold call for a pre-screening interview, I think from HR. She offered to reschedule, which I probably should have done to look over the job description and company. We talked about my resume a bit. We talked about my past work in one country and she asked about my Spanish. We talked about why I wanted to work there, my feelings on admin work, and if I planned to get a PhD. We also talked about how this job and company don't need the advanced quantitative and qualitative skills from my MPH, which might be an issue for me. She ended by asking about my salary needs, and I said I wanted more than before my MPH. It was pretty short, about 15 minutes. Five days later, I got an email saying she talked to the person currently in the role and decided I was overqualified. She wished me luck, and I was glad to get an update.

Had a phone chat with a recruiter first to go over my skills, interests, and if I needed sponsorship. Then, I had a panel interview with my potential boss and another program manager. They asked about my experience and threw in a couple of hypothetical situations. The last interview was with some technical leads, and they again asked about my experience and what I'm interested in.
