First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Encōr Solar.
Sales Manager
We were all in one room, me and the other three applicants. The interviewer gave a power point presentation which was informational. We then learned that all employees start at the bottom, entry level, at $14 an hour. This felt like a bait and switch because I was interviewing for a district manager position that listed a 70k-100k salary. I’m at this level currently and felt my time had been wasted. They were not looking to hire a district manager. The interviewer explained that they cast a wide net in the hopes of catching good applicants for their roles. I let the interviewer know that I wasn’t comfortable starting a business relationship based on dishonesty.
- Would you be able to go door to door to explain our services to potential clients?
Solar Energy Consultant
So, they start with an intro about the company, which was pretty good, given by Craig. Then there's a 15-minute one-on-one interview. The questions felt really scripted and basic, like the interviewer, Carla, was just reading off a list and got annoyed when I asked her questions about my concerns. The role starts with door-to-door sales, no leads, and then you hand off to closers. I liked Craig's intro, but not the Carla interview. I wish I could've talked more with Craig, the manager.
- Can you tell me about the hardest thing you've ever accomplished?
- In your opinion, what makes you a suitable candidate for this position?
- What are two specific qualifications that set you apart for this role?
Area Manager
The interview process was clear and helpful. They gave me plenty of opportunities to ask questions and answered them quickly. I could tell the company really wanted to hire me, and with other job offers out there, this one really stood out. The potential for growth here is amazing.
- Have you worked in in-home sales before?
Appointment Setter
The interview process involved a presentation first, which I thought was helpful, followed by one-on-one interviews. The seating was comfortable. They really highlighted the earning potential.
- What aspects of the presentation did you find appealing, and do you have any questions for us?
- Can you share an instance where you encountered a challenge or setback?
- Tell me about a time you dealt with adversity.
