It was a pretty straightforward process. First, I had a meeting with one of the directors. After that, there was a two-week intensive general orientation, followed by about a week of job-specific orientation. Then, I spent some time working alongside an experienced medic.

The interview process was more relaxed than usual for EMS, which is already pretty laid back. They really needed medics. A medic I knew who works there referred me. I had a quick chat with one of the operations bosses. After that, I went through about 2 weeks of orientation. It was pretty easy as orientations go.

It was mostly online, and kind of chaotic and impersonal. The people are nice, but it's a rough job. The company has had HR turnover twice since I was hired, and there have been two mergers too. Growing in a company can be a painful experience sometimes.
