Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Empress EMS.
Paramedic
It was a pretty straightforward process. First, I had a meeting with one of the directors. After that, there was a two-week intensive general orientation, followed by about a week of job-specific orientation. Then, I spent some time working alongside an experienced medic.
- Tell me about a time you faced a difficult oral scenario and how you handled it.
Paramedic
The interview process was more relaxed than usual for EMS, which is already pretty laid back. They really needed medics. A medic I knew who works there referred me. I had a quick chat with one of the operations bosses. After that, I went through about 2 weeks of orientation. It was pretty easy as orientations go.
- Can you tell us how you found out about this opportunity and what motivated your decision to leave your current role and join our team?
Paramedic
It was mostly online, and kind of chaotic and impersonal. The people are nice, but it's a rough job. The company has had HR turnover twice since I was hired, and there have been two mergers too. Growing in a company can be a painful experience sometimes.
- Are you a certified Paramedic in New York State?
EMT
It was pretty much just a casual chat to get to know you. You also have to pass a physical assessment, which has details on their site.
- Can you discuss your previous experience?
