Administrator
Started with a recruiter call. It was a very conversational interview about the role's requirements and my background and skills. No specific behavioral questions, just the typical small talk.

HR Specialist
When I first applied, a recruiter reached out pretty fast, which was cool. I had a call with him, then another call with a manager, and finally, an in-person interview with that manager and some other team members. The manager mentioned she'd keep me posted on the next steps and to reach out to the recruiter if I had questions. I emailed the recruiter a couple of times with my questions, but didn't hear back at all. When he finally did reply, it wasn't to answer my questions, just to say they were moving forward with other candidates. He sent the email on a Saturday morning. The lack of communication felt a bit unprofessional, and based on other reviews, this seems to be a recurring issue.
- What would be your plan for your first day on the job?
HR Consultant
I had a couple of conversations with a recruiter based in Michigan, with the second one being quite extensive. This role was located in Schaumburg, IL. The recruiter mentioned that my background aligned perfectly with what they seek in their consultants. Subsequently, I had a phone interview with someone from the Schaumburg office. She informed me that they were in the early stages of their hiring process and it would take a few weeks before they started inviting candidates for interviews. She also said that my primary contact moving forward would be the initial recruiter. I didn't hear back, so I reached out to the recruiter via email, but received no response.

Human Resources Consultant
I applied online for an HR Consultant job at EmpowerHR when I was about to graduate college in 2013. After submitting my application, an intern from the company reached out to schedule an in-person interview in Milwaukee. During the interview, I met with two consultants and their manager. It was honestly the most hostile interview I've ever had in my career. The interviewers were really condescending and acted annoyed by my lack of experience, even though my resume clearly detailed it. Looking back, I really shouldn't have even applied for that role. At the time, I lived an hour away from Milwaukee, and a phone screen would have saved me a lot of time, especially since they made me feel like such a terrible fit. After the interview, I never heard back from the company about the position. Even a simple 'thanks, but no thanks' email would have been appreciated, but that never came. That's what actually bothered me the most. About two years later, in 2015, one of their recruiters contacted me because my work experience matched an open position. I declined to proceed because of my previous negative interview experience. The recruiter was nice, though, and seemed genuinely interested in why I had a bad impression so they could improve it for future candidates.
- How would you handle a situation where a client fired an employee without informing you beforehand?
