Google Workspace Administrator
This was one of the worst interview experiences I've had. The video interview was set up with 6 people, but only 3 showed up. 2 of them were late and hadn't reviewed my resume beforehand. Only 1 person turned their camera on. The experience was subpar from the start. When the discussion began, they revealed the role wasn't actually available and was a backup in case someone failed the ITIL test. They didn't seem very knowledgeable about Google Workspace, which worsened my impression. Honestly, I wouldn't have taken the job even if offered. Everything about this organization seemed unprofessional and unqualified, which is concerning given they work for the government.

An outside recruiter hooked me up with this NCI job and set up the interview. It was at a hotel in D.C., which was fine. It felt like a job fair but you had to be invited. The interview went well, just a chat really. I left feeling good about it. The recruiter called a few days later saying they were offering me the job. Then I got an automated rejection. When I got the recruiter on the line, he said they'd offered the job to too many people by mistake and had to take it back from most. No idea how they picked the one person they kept. Maybe a mix-up on their end, but it felt really unprofessional. Luckily, I hadn't quit my job yet. Could have been in a real jam if I had.

I applied online and then a couple days later their HR rep reached out to schedule an online interview. I thought it was just with HR but the day before I was told it was with the hiring manager and CFO. The interview was supposed to be an hour but they only asked 3-4 questions so it was much shorter. The CFO didn't talk so it was more like a one on one with the hiring manager. The questions were pretty standard and surface level, not much deep conversation about the company, role, or my qualifications. They said they'd reach back out by the end of the week but they ghosted me with no follow up. I sent a follow up email and got no answer. I'm used to not hearing back but I think if there's been an interview, they should send some quick follow up and no response is unprofessional. Overall, it was pretty unprofessional because they didn't communicate the process clearly and the interview wasn't very productive.

Interview had multiple people in the room and one on the phone. Questions were direct. Even though I had no prior Medicare experience, some quick Google research helped me prepare and understand the job better. Good communication skills, both written and oral, are essential here. They offer a lot of training so everyone is usually on the same page. It's a dynamic field, so you need to be a self-starter, able to research and keep up with medical community and CMS guideline changes.
