Client Software Specialist
Phone interview with recruiter. Asked basic questions. I’m a professional with a masters degree and 11 years of experience and the recruiter asked if I was “really ready to make the jump to a traditional 9-5 in the office”. I work in a professional setting from 7:30-5:30… After passing the phone screen candidates are asked to complete a subjective and time intensive personality test. Overkill for an entry level, low-paying position. Received emails past 9pm EST from the recruiter based on the east coast. Too many red flags regarding culture to move forward.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in working for our company?
Marketing Operations Manager
Prompt, pleasant and fair! Great energy. I could tell that the people that work for this company really believe in their employees and work hard to demonstrate that. I ended up getting another offer before hearing back but I would have highly considered this role if I had been offered the position.
- Do you have experience with CRM systems, particularly Marketo?
Designer
So, this company left a really bad taste in my mouth, which is a shame because the actual designer and managers I spoke with were super nice. The problem was the communication and HR stuff, which felt really disrespectful. My first call with the recruiter was wild – someone was screaming and laughing in the background the whole time, totally messing with me. I thought they were reacting to what I was saying, but got no real explanation, though the recruiter kept muting. Super unprofessional. I let it go, but then the same recruiter emailed asking for a call *that same day*. I made it work, but it felt like they expected me to drop everything. The call wasn't even important, just them saying they'd get back to me. Later that day, they wanted to talk offer, which was exciting. But I was going to be out of town the next week, so I asked if we could talk the week after. Over the WEEKEND, I got an email with a really sassy tone about me not being able to jump on a call to discuss the offer. So rude, but I changed my plans again to fit them in, even though I had other stuff going on. Then came the constant scheduling nightmares, them pushing for earlier calls, me trying to call back with no answer, and then when we finally did connect, it was an interrogation about why I was a few minutes late to a same-day call (I was at work, called on my lunch break) and why I couldn't make it that week. I was honest the whole time, didn't call them out on their unprofessionalism, and always tried to work with their schedule. It's wild that a company would be so disrespectful of people's time and situations. Honestly, I'm glad they sent that 'we've decided to move on' email, because the whole thing was a huge waste of my time. I don't respect this kind of behavior. The employees were great, but be aware they might expect you to be available 24/7 for them.
- Could you explain why you were late on Friday?
QA Analyst
I applied online and a recruiter reached out for a first phone call. We talked about the job details, how the team works, and how my background fits the role. Next, there was another phone interview with a panel of two people: the recruiter and a consultant. We went deeper into the team's structure and the technical aspects of the job. The last part was an in-person meeting with department heads, the recruiting manager, and the CEO. The interviewers, VPs, seemed smart and dedicated. I didn't take the job because I got another offer, but I'd suggest Employee Navigator to people who like a fast-paced, fun, and challenging workplace.
- How would you handle a difficult team member?
