The interview process was about 7 steps over the course of over the month, and included a 1-hour product presentation. It was an incredibly long and tedious process, and when they elected to not move forward with me, they didn't let me know. I had to reach out to them. They replied with a 2-sentence email from HR saying I hadn't been selected, but offered no feedback or explanation as to why.

The Sr. PM position at Lever has a 5-stage interview process where candidates are assessed on various skills. The interviewers were really nice, helpful, and smart. They saw interviews as a two-way street and were open and honest in answering questions. The process included: 1. A chat with the Recruiter. 2. An interview with a Product Leader. 3. A Product Sense/Thinking Exercise with Design Leaders and Senior PMs. 4. A virtual onsite with 5 interviews covering the CEO, Engineering Leader, CS team leader, and career trajectory discussion. 5. A Panel Presentation where you showcase a past project you managed as a PM, focusing on communication, product thinking, strategy, collaboration, and leadership. 6. An Offer.

I applied online and a recruiter reached out the next day to set up a 30 min phone screen. The recruiter was nearly 10 mins late and didn't say why. She didn't seem interested at all and basically rejected me right away, saying they needed someone with more experience. She even sounded unenthusiastic when talking about their product. As expected, I got a standard rejection email the following day. It was a confusing interview overall. I suspect they might have been sourcing candidates for future roles or just building a pipeline, but it would've been better to set the right expectations from the start or only reach out for relevant roles. Also, punctuality is important.
