The interview experience at Lever was really unprofessional. A recruiter reached out via email and we scheduled a chat. She was nice but kept rescheduling, only giving notice through calendar invites, sometimes the day before. She was excited to be back from leave and talked a lot about Lever, even mentioning diversity and inclusion and interview quotas, which made me feel like just a number. The 30-minute call was mostly about the company, with only 5 minutes on a mutual connection. When I asked about next steps, she said she'd schedule another meeting. I was feeling good about that and went for a walk, only to get a call from the same recruiter again. She introduced herself as if we hadn't just spoken, even though she had a hard stop coming up. After apologizing, she hung up. The next interview was with a manager. He seemed arrogant and his first question was about my LinkedIn profile. I was prepared with stats from my previous jobs, which he even acknowledged. His questions felt like gotchas, and he mansplained churn to me. He focused on the negative and only talked about his accomplishments, which was a stark contrast to the recruiter's enthusiasm. I definitely felt like just a number. It's been a month, and despite getting a survey, I haven't heard back. I emailed both the recruiter and the second interviewer, but honestly felt like my candidacy was just to meet some company rule, which is crazy for a recruiting company like Lever. The recruiter's mistakes were forgivable, but the second interviewer, a top performer, talking down to me and saying competitors were better is why Lever will always be hiring for this role.

I applied online and a recruiter contacted me for a phone interview right away. She spent an hour screening me and said she wanted to move me forward to a face-to-face interview. She said the company would contact me to schedule it. When I didn't hear back, I followed up, but she acted like she didn't know me. She eventually said she'd talk to the company and get back to me the next day. I never heard anything and got a generic email saying I wasn't a fit. The whole experience was bad, especially for a recruiting company.

Right after I applied, the recruiter got in touch within an hour to set up the first screening call, which we scheduled for the next day. The recruiter was super nice and friendly, and by the end of our chat, we set up another interview with the CSM Regional Manager for the following day. It felt like Lever really cares about its employees and has a very open and honest work environment. After that second interview, I waited 7 business days. Then, I got an email from the recruiter saying they weren't moving forward with my application. Still, the job posting seemed really cool, so I'm sharing it with friends.
