The interview process began straightforwardly. I had an initial phone screening with a Recruiter who explained the different sales tiers. Before confirming my first on-site interview for the Corporate Account Executive role, the Recruiter requested a brief 15-minute follow-up call. During this call, she informed me that the Corporate Account Executive positions had already been filled. She then presented the SMB Account Executive role, which was significantly more junior and offered lower compensation than my previous experience warranted. Consequently, I decided to withdraw my candidacy and canceled the on-site scheduling. The experience felt unusual, as the role I was initially considered for was retracted and replaced with a less suitable opportunity.

I first met the director for coffee and was immediately interested in Lever. I was struck by his professionalism and passionate about the company and where they were headed. I felt like he immediately understood me and my strengths. I was working full time and said it was hard for me to take 4 hours off to interview. The hiring team was very flexible with me and split my interview up into two days. It was clear Lever needed to make a decision quickly but I never felt rushed and everyone was very transparent on the timeline, which I appreciated. My last step was having lunch with the team which was a nice way for me to speak with future colleagues without my manager present. One senior account executive and I did not get to connect much at lunch because we were both talking to other people. When I got home after the lunch, I noticed she had emailed me saying she was sorry we didn't talk more and she was excited about me coming to Lever. It was these little touches that were so thoughtful. Everyone had a consistent message that was upbeat but realistic and very future focused. I ultimately joined the company for two reasons - I thought I could learn from the director and the positivity of the sales culture.

This was hands down the best interview process I've experienced, with a fantastic recruitment team making it all super smooth. I was kept in the loop the whole time, so I always knew where I stood. All interviews started on time, and no rescheduling was needed. They were also really flexible with my schedule, accommodating the time difference, which was a big plus.
