It was a pretty standard interview process. I first had a call with a recruiter, who then set up calls with sales team members. A few days later, I got a verbal offer. They agreed to a signing bonus and sent info on the commission plan and health insurance. That's when things went south. After I told them about my chronic disease and asked for detailed insurance info, they just stopped responding. I tried calling and emailing them three times with no reply. Luckily, I didn't quit my job yet. This company seems really disorganized and doesn't know how to treat people. I think I might even have grounds for a discrimination lawsuit.

The interview process was lengthy, but it was a great opportunity to connect with many team members and get a feel for the company culture. It began with a phone conversation with the recruiter, followed by a discussion with the CTO. Next, I completed a coding challenge with two senior engineers. Then, I had a cross-functional interview with a Product Manager and a QA engineer. The process concluded with a series of back-to-back meetings, including another code challenge with more senior engineers, a meeting with the director and architect, and a final meeting with the CTO.

Interviewing at Emotive was a great process. I spoke directly with the founders and other senior leaders. In total, there were 5 stages designed to help the leadership team understand me as a professional, my development goals, and my motivation for joining Emotive. I wasn't actively looking to switch jobs and was happy at my current company, but the interview process and learning about Emotive's mission really appealed to me.

The day before my interview, I was notified that the hiring manager wouldn't be conducting the interview, but a more junior person would. It was a very by-the-book interview where the interviewer, who seemed inexperienced, asked me to repeat my resume and confirm my experience. I left feeling like the hiring manager didn't want to spend their time on me. The entire experience felt condescending and thoughtless.
