First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Emerson.
Software Engineer
They had 5 rounds of interviews, including 2 machine tests. After I cleared all rounds, they put my profile on hold. They claimed they hired someone internally, which makes me wonder why they called me to their office for interviews. This happened to my friends too, so I wouldn't recommend wasting your time interviewing here. Even if you have a 100% chance of clearing the interview, you likely won't get hired. During the manager round, which lasted 1.5 hours, they said they'd call me for an HR round later, but then I found out they hired someone internally. It was the worst interview experience.
- Could you develop a REST API using Node, Express, and MongoDB, along with a React frontend?
Software Engineer
I got the interview email two days before the scheduled date. On the interview day, there were two interviewers. The interview started with introductions where I introduced myself and they introduced themselves. Then, we moved on to Data Structures and Algorithms questions, like searching in a sorted matrix and finding the minimum number of platforms needed for trains. After the DSA round, they asked about my academic projects, and I discussed the details, technologies, and challenges. They also asked some core subject questions to check my fundamental knowledge. So, the interview was a mix of DSA, project discussion, and core technical knowledge.
- Can you determine the minimum number of platforms needed given train arrival and departure times?
- How would you search for an element in a matrix that is sorted both row-wise and column-wise?
Software Engineer
So I sent my CV and HR sent me a questionnaire, I filled it out and after a few days they invited me to the office. The time they proposed wasn't great so I asked if we could reschedule but they said no. I went to the office in Holon and had a good chat with two engineers. They told me about the team and asked me about my experience and coding style. I did a system design task which I found quite interesting professionally. A few days later I got an email from HR inviting me to an online interview, but then 10 minutes later another email saying it was cancelled and they weren't proceeding with my application. The engineers were nice, but HR wasn't, which is a shame.
- Can you design a system using HTTP microservices, containerization, and message queues?
