Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Emerson.
Marketing Program Manager
HR reached out to me first to see if I'd be interested in interviewing with the hiring manager. After that, I had an interview with them a few days later. About a month later, I was interviewed by a panel of about 15 managers during a conference in Orlando, FL. The week following the conference, I had another interview in Austin, TX.
- Prepare a three-slide presentation about yourself, your background, and why you are the best candidate for the role.
Program Manager
The interview process was quite drawn out and lacked professionalism. There were issues with very senior interviewers not showing up on time, causing delays of about 30 minutes. The final round took place, but it took over two weeks to receive any feedback.
- Could you share some of the challenges you've encountered in program management?
- Describe a situation where you had to manage a challenging program.
- How do you approach dealing with scope creep within a program?
Engineering Program Manager
Standard HR phone call where the recruiter seemed to be trying to guess my age. The recruiter then downplayed my experience because the offered salary wasn't competitive for an experienced PM. They also didn't understand my product lines or how they related to Emerson products.
- Can you clarify the duration of your previous roles, as the timeframes weren't specified?
