Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Emerson.
Intern
It was a quick process, taking about two weeks from the start of interviews to completion. There were three rounds, all behavioral interviews. The first was with a team member, the second with another team member, and the final one was with the hiring manager.
- What draws you to Emerson?
- Tell me about an instance where you had to persuade someone.
Intern
I applied online and then had an in-person interview at their facility. It was a general interview where they asked about my previous experiences and my technical knowledge. They also asked some questions related to my coursework. I got the internship offer within 2 months.
- What makes you interested in Emerson?
- What do you consider your biggest weakness?
- What are your goals for this internship?
Co-Op
The people I interacted with were super friendly, and the interviews themselves were great. Everyone I spoke to was really polite and funny. It's a super competitive hiring process though, so be ready for it to drag on for about 1-2 months. Honestly, I'd suggest applying to a bunch of other jobs too, just to have some backup options. The application status tracker is also pretty useless; you can't really see where you're at in your Job Submissions, just whether it's completed and the date it was updated, which from what I saw, was mostly just the company updating things on their end. It would have been way better if there was a bit more communication back and forth because it did take me well over a month and a half. But hey, all the people I talked to were lovely and I was genuinely happy just to be considered.
- Could you share your long-term aspirations within this field?
- What kind of experience do you bring to the table?
- In what ways can this role contribute to your long-term goals?
