First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at EMD Electronics.
Facilities Engineer
It wasn't too bad, first a phone screen with the recruiter. Then I had an onsite with people from different departments. They asked a mix of technical and behavioral questions. The interviewers were nice and seemed to be looking for specific skills.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to manage several projects at once?
Chemical Engineering Intern
After applying, I had a quick chat with a recruiter over the phone to review my resume and experience and talk about my interest in the role. About two weeks later, I had a video call with the person who would be my supervisor. We went through my resume in detail and discussed some typical interview questions. I also got to ask them some questions I had.
- Tell me about your greatest achievement.
Project Manager
HR reviewed my resume and then presented it to the hiring manager. They operate in a specialized industry. I really liked talking about how my skills could be used for what they needed. I get that they found someone closer to their location. Meeting the team was great, and I felt good about EMD afterwards.
- Were you open to working in the office to lead the projects?
Engineer
I had a screening interview first, then a presentation I had to prepare on a given topic, followed by a panel interview with 3 people. The presentation topic seemed unrelated to the job at first, but it turned out to be pretty similar to the actual job, though still different from the job description. It was disappointing that no one told me about the true nature of the job when I asked. My background is in process engineering, fabrication, and characterization, which seemed relevant from the JD. But the interview and the job were about power distribution and fixing equipment. The whole process felt like a waste of time, and I hope they update the JD to be more accurate.
- Can you tell me about your background?
- What were your responsibilities during your internship?
- We have some questions regarding your publications.
