First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Embark Trucks.
Software Engineer
Standard suite of interview rounds -- several technical sessions, a design session, a behavioral session. The technical questions were medium difficulty. The design session involved some pretty quick escalation of complexity and detailed technical follow up questions.
- The most interesting interview question I've ever had -- going through a fictitious PR review together, with some follow up questions and discussion.
Computer Vision Engineer
It started with a brief chat with HR, then an informal interview with the Head of Perception. Next was a C++ coding interview, followed by another discussion-based technical interview with the Head of Perception about how to construct a computer vision system for basketball, specifically for an AR system that creates overlays like those seen in televised sports.
- Imagine we want to create an AR system to put graphics (like stats and plays) onto a basketball court, and also track the ball during the game. How would you approach this?
Commercial Counsel
Started with a quick call from a recruiter. Then had an interview with the hiring manager, followed by a panel interview. For the panel, I had to prep and give a 25-minute PowerPoint presentation on a prompt they gave me. After the presentation, I interviewed with three more people on the panel. Everyone was really nice and professional, and I got good feedback.
- Tell me about a time when....
Machine Learning Engineer
The interview process was slow, with interviews happening one round at a time instead of all on the same day. Although I initially applied for a Software Engineer role, the hiring manager suggested I interview for a Machine Learning Engineer position. HR provided feedback a few weeks after each individual interview round.
- Can you describe methods for pre-processing data for machine learning models?
- Can you describe methods for post-processing data after machine learning models have been run?
