First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Elm Community Charter School.
Operations Associate
I was contacted about two weeks after applying and asked to do a task. Although I typically wouldn't do unpaid work, I was very interested in the role, so I completed it and then followed up with the hiring manager to confirm they received it. After a month and two follow-up emails, I never heard back from the hiring manager and was ghosted. Interestingly, they also raised the salary range by 2K during this time. Looking back, I feel fortunate to have avoided working with an unprofessional company. This is the first time in my decade-plus career that this has happened.
- What motivates your interest in this organization?
Lead Teacher
The interview process was very direct, straightforward and honest. They asked questions that were directly related to the job description, and also some questions about very isolated incidents. While the interview process took a long time, it was definitely worth the effort.
- Can you describe a situation where you experienced conflict with a fellow Lead Teacher and explain how you managed it?
Teacher
I first submitted my resume online. Then, I was asked to come in and teach a class. They were helpful when I asked for advice on what lesson to prepare. An administrator watched me teach and then asked for my thoughts on how it went and if I'd make any changes. After that, we went to an office for a more traditional interview where I answered questions. I felt comfortable answering everything, even the tough ones.
- How do you think the lesson went, and would you alter anything?
- Reflecting on the lesson, what would you do differently?
Director
Interview is standard not difficult. However after performance task was ghosted. No follow up to say role was not offered. Just ghosted. I would recommend asking hiring persons to share timeline of communication before committing to task so that you are in an understanding of how communication will proceed.
