It started with an introductory call with the recruitment team, and then another call with the team manager. Both contacts were nice and easy to talk to, making you feel comfortable. However, if you're looking for quick updates, this firm isn't it. It took about a month for them to get back to me after my application, and then another month after the second interview to hear that I wasn't selected. I had already taken another job by then. There was no communication about the process or why it took so long to respond or give any updates. The rejection email was obviously generic and lacked any specific feedback. There are better hiring processes elsewhere. I'm sure it's a good firm, but the recruitment process needs improvement.

This process really gave me some bad vibes. First, I aced a grammar test, then they wanted my writing samples. I'm a seasoned business immigration paralegal, I've helped tons of people get their green cards with my EB-1 petitions. But after I sent in my writing samples, I got the same canned rejection email that others mentioned, saying I didn't make the cut after a 'panel' reviewed my work. They couldn't give feedback because of high application volume. It's weird they ask so many people for writing samples if they can't provide feedback, especially since it takes time and should be for serious candidates. It felt super disrespectful. The only plus was the quick turnaround, but it was *so* fast, I suspect AI, not a 'review panel'. The job posting shows over 1800 applications and growing. Why so many? Maybe they're using our samples for AI training? That could explain the lack of specific feedback. They asked for a lot and offered nothing in return. Based on reviews from current/former employees, this seems typical for Ellis Porter. Wish I'd seen those reviews earlier. If you're applying, be cautious.

I applied and got a test on proofreading and reading comp pretty quick. The reading comp had some intense pharma text. 72 hours later, I got an email saying I didn't make it because of my test performance. That's fine, but the job was posted again on LinkedIn with 38 apps already in, at the same time I got rejected. They said they couldn't give feedback because of a 'volume of applications'. I'm not sure if Ellis Porter is actually getting value from LinkedIn or just collecting applicant data.

It was a very chill and friendly interview with three people: the HR director, a training manager, and an attorney. They asked pretty standard questions, so your basic interview prep should cover it. It was definitely not like other law firms, not stuffy at all.
