First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Elliot Health System.
Registered Nurse
I applied online through their website. Then I had a phone screening with HR. After that, I met with both hiring managers one-on-one in person. I met with them for a little over an hour and was offered the job two days later.
- Can you share an example of a time you went the extra mile to care for a patient?
Licensed Nursing Assistant
The interview process was great, all of my questions were answered and I got a detailed tour of the hospital as well as given a wide array of important information, and I felt very welcome.
- Can you describe some safety-related questions and scenarios relevant to patient care?
- How would you handle a safety concern or incident involving a patient?
- What steps would you take in a patient emergency situation?
Licensed Nursing Assistant
I had an initial call with HR. Then, I met with the hiring manager for the unit. He mentioned that HR hadn't informed him of my interview, despite him receiving an email about it. It felt less like an interview and more like a vocabulary quiz. He was quite rude, constantly on his computer and questioning my answers in a dismissive way. He also stated that all LNAs do is clean patients and take vitals, which I found to be untrue and disrespectful, as patient care involves much more. The manager seemed to blame HR for the miscommunication. HR, on the other hand, was very pleasant.

- What does this term mean?
Phlebotomist
first meet with HR for an interview then they send you down to meet with the laboratory supervisor. No worries, the lab supervisor doesnt asks you anything about how to draw blood and which tube to use.
- Could you share your strengths and weaknesses?
- How do you handle workplace conflicts with colleagues?
- Tell me about a time you had to manage a difficult client situation.
