It was a simple and personal interview where they asked technical questions and about where you've worked. They also asked how you solved problems and what challenges you've faced, about your experience and your education.

This was a really bad process. A recruiter contacted me about a job I applied for. I had to schedule the interview myself on her calendar. The first time I picked wasn't available, so I chose another. But she called me at the first time, which wasn't available, not the one I actually picked and put on my calendar. I couldn't talk then because I was busy, so she rescheduled. The new time came and went with no call or email. I withdrew my application because the recruiter was so unprofessional. Later that night, I got a rejection email saying they were moving on with other candidates. It's weird because I had already withdrawn my application. I don't think I'll apply to Riteaid or any related company again. This recruiter is bad for business and makes the company look bad.

Behavioral Technical

The first chat with the recruiter was fine, she seemed nice and helpful. The second interview, with the hiring manager, was a bit tougher; she didn't seem super prepared, and I felt like I had to lead the conversation and prompt for interview questions. These questions were pretty basic (tell me about yourself/do you have any experience in...?). When I asked about the work environment, she said it was really difficult, without much detail. She also mentioned that many in that department are new, which felt like another red flag. I asked about her management style/what she expected from her direct reports to help the team succeed, and she just said her style comes from her superiors, with no more info. Next, I interviewed with the hiring manager's boss. She asked for clarification on answers that didn't really need any. It got to where she was probing, with several questions, about a 5 week employment gap. It seemed to me she also didn't have many questions ready. It really felt like she was less interested in how my experience fit the job, and more focused on finding something I'd answer wrong. She also mentioned, multiple times, that the environment was 'very difficult' and 'challenging', completely unprompted, another red flag. I asked her to clarify further, and she described the workload, then implied I was just looking for a job to 'hang out and relax in'. In my response to my 'thank you' to the director, I got a generic 'thanks for applying' email, which is discouraging after investing so much time prepping and interviewing. TL;DR - the whole department seemed disorganized and unhappy. Management didn't seem actively involved, leaving everyone to fend for themselves. Lots of warning signs.

Behavioral Technical Case

I had a 30 minute phone chat with the hiring manager, then a in-person interview about a week later. The in-person interview went well, they really wanted to see how I think. I also had a quick excel test. The recruiter was a ghost until I called them because they never responded to my emails. They told me I didn't get the job. I asked for feedback, they said they'd give it, but after emailing again a week later, I still never heard back. It was really disappointing how poor the communication was, especially since people traveled far to interview. At least communicate and do what you say you'll do.
