I spoke with someone in process engineering. They spoke highly of themselves and the company, which initially seemed fine, but then things took a strange turn. They made some vague, odd, and off-color comments, seeming surprisingly unaware of how they came across and appearing extremely insensitive to potential job accommodations or diverse perspectives. This was a jarring insight from such a company. It was made clear that it was a 'my way or the highway' situation, and you had to do whatever it took, for better or worse. The only acceptable response was to jump, and the question was how high. The attitude was cold, close-minded, and tone-deaf.

First, a recruiter call to go over sponsorship and your experience. Then, a round with the hiring manager to discuss your experience and answer some technical questions. The final interview is a panel interview, conducted virtually with team members and directors, including a VP. It was an average interview experience, with five people involved.

It started with a standard screen, then a manager interview, and finally a panel interview. They called to offer me the role with all the details, and the feedback was very positive. My references were checked. HR followed up to clarify the role, which was great, and mentioned they were sending the package over soon, but then went silent for a month. After I reached out multiple times, HR finally responded saying they loved me and I was a great fit, but they had closed the role and wanted to know if I'd apply as a Sr Scientist instead. The audacity and lack of respect for candidates is mind-boggling. Their approach shows how little they care for potential hires and speaks volumes about how they treat their employees. The first red flag was when they mentioned how terrible the environment had been and how it needed fixing. They try to compensate with money, but that doesn't fix culture or management failures.

I had a video interview with the hiring manager. Then I was invited to come onsite for an in person interview where I met with several interviewers. After the in person interview, I had another meeting/debrief with the hiring manager. Following the hiring manager debrief, my references were checked then I was made an offer.

  • Can you tell me about your past experience and highlight accomplishments relevant to this role?
  • What are some of your accomplishments?
