First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Elder Research.
Program Manager
I had a recruiter screening, then a one-hour interview with the hiring manager that seemed to go really well, and the recruiter confirmed. After weeks, they told me I was still in the running but looking at others. Then I had another interview with a manager late on a weeknight. I thought I'd get an offer later that week. Then I had an hour interview with two senior people, which also seemed good. The next week, I followed up, and the recruiter said they went with an internal candidate for that role, even though the manager implied an offer. For the other role, they said they were going in a different direction because I lacked data science skills, which is weird since my career is in data science. I'm frustrated by the mixed signals and wasted time.
- Can you walk us through your career journey?
Data Scientist
My interview experience with Elder Research was really well-organized and felt respectful. It started with an initial screening call, then went into a second round where I had a panel interview. This panel covered both behavioral questions and technical topics. I got to talk with people from the technical team and also with some leadership. Everyone made sure to clearly explain what the role involved and the company's mission.
- Tell me about a time you used machine learning to create something or solve a problem for a client.
Data Engineer
They ghosted me in the second interview after showing interest in me in the first round. After asking me to participate in a second round they refused to set a time after calling and texting them. The only benefit of the doubt I am going to give them in this is government cuts affect their business.
- Can you describe your experience?
Software Developer
The interview process was quite thorough and consistently friendly. It involved several interviews with different team members. There were about 4 interviews in total: an introductory one, two technical interviews, and a final one with the CTO. The atmosphere felt personal, kind, and professional. I liked getting a better sense of what the company is like. When I started, I already recognized many friendly faces from the interview process.
- Can you describe methods for optimizing a SQL query?
