I interviewed at El Toro with about 6 years of experience in software sales from Yelp and Intuit in San Francisco. We had just moved to Louisville from the Bay Area, and I was excited to interview with a tech company there. However, from the start, I felt belittled and inadequate. The interview took a dark turn when a founder, focusing on my move from San Francisco, hostilely asked how I'd feel knowing employees bring guns to work. That was game over; it was clear I wasn't a culture fit. Ownership continued to berate me for being proud of my past sales experience. I left feeling small, wishing I'd pushed back.

We did a group interview with four people in each group. Three full-time developers took turns asking us questions. It was pretty chill and the interviewers were nice. Everyone got enough time to answer some questions. The first part wasn't super technical, mostly about our resumes and past work experiences. Then, we got a coding assignment via email with technical questions and a due date. We submitted it online with our code and answers, and got an offer back really fast, like within a day.

It was a group interview next to a ping pong table and whisky bar. Don’t wear super nice clothes. The vibe is relaxed. Have some projects that use go, elixir, and python on your github. Good cop bad cop. Most people will just ask you questions to get to know you. One person goes through your resume and is more intimidating. Just be yourself this place is dope. Also listen more than you speak. Good luck

I applied online after a professor suggested it, and then interviewed about two weeks later. The interview was with 3 employees, and it was short but thorough. I got an offer about a week and a half after that.
