First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Eko.
Account Executive
I had a great initial call, and left feeling excited about the opportunity. However, my second interview with a VP began with multiple interruptions due to an unforeseen personal circumstance. She needed to pause and mute the conversation several times, which is completely understandable. That said, it was clear she wasn’t fully present or in the right headspace to conduct an interview, and I was told there might be a follow-up conversation to ensure a fair assessment. Following that call, I emailed to express my continued interest and asked if the team could share a time for a follow-up meeting. Instead, I received a message stating that after meeting additional candidates, the team didn’t feel it was the right match. I was surprised, as I didn’t feel I was given a full or fair opportunity to showcase my skills during the second conversation. I did follow up with the recruiter to respectfully share this context, but I never received a response. I was disappointed in how the process was handled, especially after such a strong start. I share this not out of frustration, but in the hope that it may help improve the candidate experience in the future.
- Were you asked about your skills or experience?
Head of Product Design
The recruiting process was disappointing. I was invited to apply for a position, but the recruiter interviewed me for a different role than the one I applied for. They quickly ended the interview when I pointed this out. The recruiter never followed up about the job I actually applied for, even though they said they would. It's a shame because Eko seems like a great company, but after this experience, I'm not sure I'd want to work there. It made me question if the company values a good work culture and invests in a quality recruiting team.
- Can you share details about your background in product design?
Customer Success Associate
So I only made it through the first two rounds, so I can't speak on any subsequent rounds. The first round was with the recruiter. They were thorough and seemed nice enough. I thought I did well, but there was radio silence even after a week, so I forgot about them. To my surprise, they followed up a few weeks later and asked if I was interested in setting up a Zoom meeting with the hiring manager. The conversation with the hiring manager was fine. There was nothing inherently wrong with the hiring manager, but a few minutes in I realized that I didn't click with them. They must have felt the same because the following week I received a (I'm assuming automated) rejection email.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
Customer Support Specialist
I had three virtual interviews for the role. First, I chatted with the customer support manager, which was pretty laid-back. Then, I met with some of the support team members. This gave me a good feel for what the job is actually like day-to-day. The last interview was with the customer experience director and it only lasted about half an hour; it was super easy. Everyone I talked to was really nice. After the final interview, I got a call from HR for a conditional offer, which came after they did reference checks. I liked how the recruiter stayed in touch throughout the whole thing.
- Can you tell me about a recent app you found impressive and explain why?
