Finance Analyst
Had a Teams Interview with Talent Acquisition. They asked me why I thought this job was the right fit for me. I explained my answer and my approach to leading a Finance Function. Talent Acquisition immediately cut off the interview saying that I would change too much and that 'they are doing everything perfectly now'. I've never experienced an interview quite like this before. Very unprofessional with the remarks and tone of voice. It's no wonder why this role has been open for months!

Project Manager
I actually went through two separate processes with this company about 3 months apart. Both times were pretty disorganized and unprofessional. The first time, they asked for my availability for a 30 minute phone interview. I gave them my availability for the next 5 days. They sent a calendar invite. A few minutes later, I got an email with a totally different date. I asked for clarification and they confirmed the original date from the calendar invite. Then they asked me to do an outdated questionnaire and a full background check. The phone interview started 10 minutes late. I was about to email the Staffing Specialist when they finally called. After a quick apology for being late, we started talking. They didn't ask much, just typical experience questions. I guess it went okay because I moved to the next round and a Teams interview was scheduled for about a week later. Again, the first email had a date that conflicted with what we discussed. I emailed again to confirm the correct date and the Staffing Specialist apologized for the typo. The Teams interview was very procedural, no small talk, and they asked questions that seemed really old-fashioned. It was very typical, discussing my experiences again. When it was my turn to ask questions, their answers were really short and uninspiring. I couldn't get a good feel for the company because they were tight-lipped and didn't seem eager to talk about themselves or the company culture. I always send a thank you email after an interview. That's how the first process ended. I never heard back even after checking in. Even though it was a bad experience, I applied for another job there a few months later. I got an email within an hour of applying. I thought they were excited. The email was from the 'SVP of Human Capital Management' - you know, the kind of person that makes you dislike HR. The email said my resume was too brief and they wanted more details, like you'd discuss in an interview. Red flags everywhere, but I replied with a detailed description of some relevant experiences. Just a few minutes later, they replied saying they didn't think I had the necessary experience for the role. Their quick and hasty judgment of my qualifications, especially for someone who doesn't know the job inside out, doesn't seem like a good way to hire people. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

Member Service Coordinator
The interview process was really smooth and to the point, easy to understand, and detailed. They conducted an initial call before the main interview. I had to fill out a questionnaire and provide background history. The final interview had a window from 11 am to 1 pm for interviews. Communication with the recruiter was constant.
- Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Communications and Marketing Manager
I applied online for the Communications & Marketing Manager role in early May 2015 and ESFCU got back to me pretty fast about a phone interview. The phone screen happened 2 days later. It was a nice chat with HR, covering my background and letting me ask about the job and company. Next, they wanted an in-person interview, but honestly, it was a mess due to unprofessionalism. Before the interview, I had to do 2 writing tasks for them: (1) An internal memo about a new way to handle customer/member card disputes, and (2) An external announcement about a car sale event where their financial team would be present. I was interviewed at 4 PM on a Tuesday. When it started, neither interviewer knew about my writing assignments, so I awkwardly handed them copies and read the instructions from my phone. After that rough start, the two people read from a printed list of basic questions, likely printed right before the interview. The Q&A felt impersonal and uninterested. When I tried asking about job duties and the hiring timeline, they brushed off my questions because it was 'getting late', and I was quickly shown the door. One interviewer even took a 10-minute personal call mid-interview. Three weeks later, I got an automated rejection email.
