First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Education Service Center, Region 20.
Project Manager
It's a three-part process. First, you'll chat with the hiring supervisor and some team members. Then, there's a meeting with the component director. The final step is a meeting with the executive director to get the final go-ahead. You'll also do a task related to the job during the first interview.
- What's your experience been with the products that Region 20 handles?
Program Manager
The hiring process is quite lengthy, involving three interviews. HR will keep you updated on your progress after each stage. The first interview is a panel with the Component Director, your potential supervisor, and a Coordinator, where you'll present on a work-related topic. The second interview is with the deputy director, and the third is with the CEO.
- What's your approach to managing an employee's performance issues?
Field Agent
I had an interview with a committee of five people. They were top administrators from different departments. Each person asked me questions about their area and how I would help make their department better. Some questions were straightforward, but others were complex, with multiple parts, so I had to make sure I addressed every aspect.
- What are the skill sets, experiences, and leadership qualities you possess that you would bring to this organization?
- Could you elaborate on the skill sets, experiences, and leadership you bring?
- What kind of skill sets, experiences, and leadership do I bring to the organization?
Education Specialist
This interview process is quite lengthy, spanning over weeks, sometimes even a month or more, and involves four distinct stages. It kicks off with a group panel session that includes a presentation and group questions. Following that, you'll meet with a component director, then have an interview with the Assistant CEO, and finally, an interview with the CEO. It's definitely a long haul! While one might assume they're seeking deep subject matter expertise, that's typically not the main focus. Your personality fit with the company culture appears to be far more critical. I'd strongly advise being authentic, because if your personality isn't a good match for the company culture, it's probably best to not receive a job offer. I made the mistake of trying to say what I thought they wanted to hear, and I was pretty miserable for about two years.
- Could you put together a presentation about your area of expertise?
- How do you approach working with your colleagues?
- Can you describe your personality type?
