First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Education.com.
Executive Editorial Director
I met with a number of people over a pretty long time. I got to meet with folks from just about every department so I could get a good feel for the different areas of responsibility and how the company was put together. The interviews themselves were a mix of phone calls, Google Meets, and in-person meetings.

Software Engineer
I found the role online after a friend on Facebook recommended it. I got a call back pretty fast for an initial interview with the CTO. About a week later, I went in for a second interview. It was an onsite interview with 3 engineers that lasted about 1 to 1.5 hours. This interview was more technical and involved writing on a whiteboard. The questions were easier than expected if you've been doing LeetCode/HackerRank, but could be tricky without knowing JavaScript. The engineers were helpful and guided me when I got stuck. They mentioned it could take up to 3 weeks for them to get back to me. After about a week, I had another offer, so I let them know. A few days later, I got an offer from this company.

Marketing
After applying, I was contacted by a recruiter for a phone call. Then I spoke with the hiring manager. The marketing manager had a strange typo in his email to schedule the call, spelling the company name incorrectly. During the interview process, I met the VP of Product and some peers, which felt like a nice conversation. However, the hiring manager was rude and judgmental. He criticized my resume, specifically my skill of being fluent in Mandarin, even though he speaks it too. He also lectured me for 10 minutes about the importance of being detail-oriented, which was ironic given his own mistake with the company name. He also mentioned working weekends a lot. Finally, he gave me a rejection call, stating he wanted someone more experienced, and that he could have just emailed me instead of wasting my time.
- What prompted your departure from your prior role?
Full Stack Software Engineer
It was a 30-minute technical phone interview, and then an onsite interview that included lunch. Everyone was friendly and helpful; it seemed like a good place to work. Sadly, I didn't get through the in-person interview.

- What are some algorithms you know?
- Tell me about recursion.
