I applied for a summer teaching position. I was contacted and scheduled for an interview. When I arrived, I found out the interview had been cancelled without any prior notification. They never got back to me to reschedule or explain why. It was really unprofessional and rude of them.

I applied for a paraprofessional job on Tuesday. The online application took me a few weeks to complete, and I made it longer by applying for other jobs too. This is a temporary role assisting students with Autism/LD and sometimes being a bus aide. By Thursday, the principal of an elementary school contacted me for an interview on Friday. We had some trouble connecting by phone because I work at a school and can't always answer. We scheduled the interview for Monday morning. The interview started right on time and was quick and to the point. I was surprised there were three interviewers with a list of questions, as I expected only one, but it wasn't too scary. The questions were more about behavior than standard ones, which I like better. They didn't ask about my degree (a BA in political science) which was a relief because the 'why aren't you in your field' question can be awkward. I haven't gotten an offer yet; I should hear back by the end of next week.

  • Could you describe the responsibilities of a teacher in a classroom and a paraprofessional?
